Pistol shrimp require a well-maintained aquarium with a minimum size of 10 gallons. They prefer a sand substrate with plenty of hiding places such as live rock and caves. The water temperature should be between 22-26c with a pH range of 8.1-8.4. They require a protein-rich diet consisting of frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp and krill. It is important to maintain good water quality by performing regular water changes and using a high-quality protein skimmer. Additionally, they should not be housed with aggressive tank mates as they are relatively peaceful.
