Only known from the islands off the west coast of Sumatra. It is closely related to Cirrhilabrus flavidorsalis and females are virtually identical. Some males of C.flavidorsalis have a nearly all white body, but head is more red C.adornatus occurs on rubble flats, especially destroyed coral seas. It was first discovered by H.Debelius at the Mentawai in 1997. Length to 65mm.
